Ways the Denver Broncos together with the 'play-dough' QB could stop the Kansas City Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage features text commentary for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Also, radio commentary is available through designated networks for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
We're in the sixth week in the NFL season , following recent discussion regarding the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each lost their perfect starts.
Notable in those games was the amount of penalties both conceded. The Eagles did so in key moments meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the fourth period versus Denver, set to play in London this weekend.
However it was good to see how Denver's QB the rookie managed to overcome the shortfall before lead three successful possessions in three attempts during the final period, to win the victory by four points.
Denver boast the top defender in CB their star corner. They are number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos prevailed in that contest.
They executed effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily rushing extra pass rushers but they could plug two linebackers in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.
At the start in the campaign, it was noted on a program how the Broncos could be the current year's dark horses. They finished last season strongly and excelled in continuing that momentum.
Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?
Recently acquired TE their tight end has excelled significantly and recent running back their rusher is a player they believe in. He now ranks 5th league-wide in ground gains (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).
It's impressive that the coach the Broncos' leader has "RUSH!" prominently on his call sheet.
This demonstrates that the Broncos are a team aiming to prioritize the run, because you can achieve much based on that approach. It slows opposing rushes and maintains in positive situations.
It's also helped quarterback the young passer, who came the NFL as a first-round selection in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 in 2020).
Other elite QBs have the arm strength to pass anywhere, but they don't move in the same way as Nix. He has exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.
His assets are his mobility, the capacity to pass on the run, and using varied release points to make throws when he rolls out of the pocket, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws across the middle or over the corner.
As a rookie QB, at 25, he's got great poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able throw in tight spots. He has a high football IQ and remains quick to decide.
When you constantly rush it eats up time and makes the opponent to be in play extended periods, and when you have an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the area downfield side to side. This proves exhausting.
The quarterback has bitten back at Payton on the sideline sometimes and I think the coach likes that fire, that he's a fierce rival. I think it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB that is similar to play-dough. The coach can really build something up how he desires to shape him. I believe it's a unique opportunity for him.
Payton has won a Super Bowl and has surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He has witnessed everything. I think the achievements the Broncos are experiencing on offence is largely due to his guidance, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix helps shape him what he is.
You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and boost confidence.
I believe in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. But is the team good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Because that wasn't a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles in their last game.
Currently, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're working better than most, that's a good place to be in the AFC West. All they need is is maintain this path.
They're really good at leaning into their forte, which is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do against the Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (among the worst), five ground scores so far (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win a game.
Since the league started recording takeaways in 1933, this team are the first team to go without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising when you think that the head coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.
Patrick Mahomes stated Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, Denver face a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans plus Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Kansas City Chiefs.
In the AFC West, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the division.
It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they face since the Broncos {beat|def
