It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
