Supporters Demand Custody of Man Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of Ariana Grande are calling for that a person who jumped a barrier and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating footage depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside media personnel and charging at Grande while the performers walked down a promenade accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised actress away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being led away of the event by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being arrested", though official papers showed that he was set to appear on the next day. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Record of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account features videos of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including rushing the platform at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in June this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last December.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is evidently a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user remarked.
Followers Voice Worry Over the Star's Safety
Several followers blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from PTSD after a devastating incident at the end of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Some fans also questioned event staff at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while some called for social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande seemed startled when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Many of supporters had gathered in a mass of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good international debut in a Singapore mall, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The movie, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film adaptation of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which centers on the surprising friendship between two distinct witches.
The musical itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sequin dress at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble embroidered with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, winning several for excellent wardrobe and set decoration.
