Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's expected for doubts to be asked about his future after another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th defeat in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got a lot of support from the top,” the coach stated.

“It's important to change things and secure a win of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. But I've not talked to them after this game yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Problems and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club for years.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a spell such as this with results this poor.”

Jones stated, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to compete.”

“We’re going to try to help the side return to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the planet.”

“At this moment, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
