Iranian Forces State Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in response for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
