Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of performing assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – some of which involve acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
