The acclaimed UK star Helen Mirren, already recipient of an Oscar statuette, four Baftas, Golden Globe wins, multiple Emmy accolades, and a Tony, is set to receive another prestigious accolade to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' career honor.

Honors Presentation

The actress, octogenarian, who was given a damehood during 2003 and made a Bafta fellow in the year 2014, will receive the accolade during a presentation on the eighth of January, just prior to the primary Globes ceremony occur, during a program described by the Golden Globes as the Golden Eve event.

This will also include the presentation of the Golden Globes’ Carol Burnett prize for small-screen contributions, the recipient of which remains unannounced. Last year’s winners included Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, and her career is absolutely extraordinary,” said Helen Hoehne, the Globes’ leader. “Her brilliant portrayals and commitment to her craft continue to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike. It is a profound honour to bestow upon her the DeMille prize.”

Career Highlights

The star became well-known back in the 70s with key roles on stage in the West End of London and with the Royal Shakespeare Company and in cinematic works like O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her lead performance in the crime series Prime Suspect broadened her fanbase significantly. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She earned an Academy Award for her role as Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a part she returned to during 2013 for The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan about the meetings between the queen and prime minister the former PM, a performance for which she received a Tony Award in 2015.

Current and Forthcoming Appearances

• Subsequent cinematic works feature Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda & Barbie, where she served as narrator.
• Her performance in the Netflix version of The Thursday Murder Club has also been praised and awards buzz is increasing about her portrayal as a dying matriarch in Kate Winslet’s first directing effort, Goodbye June.
• In the coming year, she will appear in the role of Patricia Highsmith in Anton Corbijn’s drama, Switzerland.

Golden Globe nods will be declared December 8, with Anderson’s One Battle After Another, Zhao’s Hamnet and Ryan Coogler’s Sinners likely to receive multiple nominations.
